WordPress SEO without the plugin pile-up

SEO plugins configured properly, archive and taxonomy bloat cleaned up, page builders made faster, and the security and hosting problems that quietly cost WordPress sites their rankings.

Problems we fix

  • Tag, author and attachment pages indexed
  • Two SEO plugins fighting each other
  • A slow page builder theme
  • Spam pages from a hack showing in Google
  • WooCommerce filter URLs being crawled
  • Plugins nobody remembers installing

How we approach WordPress SEO

WordPress runs a huge share of the web, and that flexibility is also its weakness. Each plugin, theme and page builder adds settings and scripts, and the defaults create pages nobody meant to publish: tag archives, author archives, date archives and media attachment pages, all crawlable and mostly thin.

We tidy up the foundations first: the SEO plugin, indexing settings, archives, theme performance and hosting. Then we build content and authority on top. We also see a lot of hacked WordPress sites, where spam pages are injected into the site and indexed under your domain, and we can find and clean those up with you.

What's included

SEO plugin configuration
Yoast, Rank Math or SEOPress set up deliberately: titles, indexing rules, sitemaps, breadcrumbs and schema, with conflicting plugins removed.
Archive and taxonomy clean-up
Tag, category, author, date and attachment pages either made useful or kept out of the index, so crawling goes to the pages that matter.
Theme and page builder speed
Elementor, Divi and heavy themes audited for render-blocking scripts, unused CSS and plugin overhead, with caching and image delivery fixed.
WooCommerce SEO
Product and category pages, attribute and filter URLs, schema and the WooCommerce-specific duplicate content issues.
Hacked site clean-up
Injected spam pages found through Search Console and crawls, removed with your developer or host, and cleared from Google's index.
Hosting and maintenance review
Server response times, caching, updates and uptime monitoring, because a slow or compromised server undoes everything else.

WordPress SEO questions

Something else? Ask us directly.

Yoast or Rank Math?

Either works well when it's configured properly. What matters more is running only one SEO plugin, setting the indexing rules deliberately and not relying on its traffic-light scores as an SEO strategy.

Will a page builder hurt our SEO?

Not by itself, but builders like Elementor and Divi often add a lot of code and slow pages down. We can usually make them noticeably faster without a rebuild.

Our site was hacked. Can you help?

Yes. We find the injected pages through Search Console, crawls and site searches, work with your developer or host to remove the cause, and make sure the spam URLs return the right status so Google drops them.

Should we move off WordPress?

Usually not for SEO reasons alone. A well-maintained WordPress site can rank as well as anything. If you're moving for other reasons, we'll plan the migration so you keep your rankings.

How much does WordPress SEO cost?

Retainers start from £3,000 a month with a minimum three-month term. The exact fee depends on the size of your site and how much delivery we take on. You'll get a fixed monthly figure in the proposal after the discovery call, with no surprise extras.

Why is there a three-month minimum?

The first month is mostly audit and planning, and search changes need time to be crawled, processed and measured. Three months is the shortest period in which you can fairly judge whether the work is paying off.
